CRISTINA SABAIDUC - From Mundane to Mind Blowing

Cristina Sabaiduc is one of my recent fashion finds and a great source of inspiration thanks to Wowcracy. I initially stumbled upon her recent AW14 Scarf collection which blew my mind but I was not able to get enough of her work so started digging deeper.

The Romanian/Canadian Designer relocated to UK in 2010 to launch her eponymous label. There was no turning back for her ever since. As I reviewed her work from the past till now the evolution has been nothing less than prose turning into poetry. Her designs are a true amalgamation of art, nature and everyday objects. The mundane gets translated through vivid prints and designs into something enthralling.

The places she grew up in, Romania, Switzerland and Canada, play a pivotal role in her creations but when we see the source of her inspiration being the unexpected, almost elusive, depiction of molds, frozen detergents, crystallized feather and salt mines through beautiful digital print which become the focus of her pieces in her collections, we are left breathless as well as speechless.

Cristina's recent AW14 Scarf collection is another one of her Conceptual masterpieces. She teamed up with Analog photography maestro Jo Holland (not the first time they have worked together) to capture the textures of the ordinary detergents, wines and other household products in frozen form and then further produced captivating digital prints on silk which transformed them into something more than just humdrum.
