Will we ever get tired of Japanese (Oriental) inspired fashion? Oh God, I hope not! I don't think it should every end. That is exactly why it keeps making a comeback every year, be it cherry blossoms, the kimono, Paintings, architecture, the inspiration keeps evolving through prints, cuts, techniques as well as fabrics.
There is something very alluring and fantastical about the Far East. People who really know me are aware of my love for all things Japanese. Fashion is surely part of it, not just for me but even the world. The famous Harajuku, Shinjuku and Shibuya districts are visited from all over the world to witness diverse and unique fashion trends which later inspire big collections from renown designers.
I will not stray elsewhere today and keep us all within the boundaries of Pakistan. Yes, our designers have been inspired by the Asians as much as any other. We still can't shrug off the beautiful collections, Sakura from Sania Maskatiya and Misaki by Shehla Chatoor, even to date, amongst many others.
Here are a select few recent favorites of mine:
Nida Azwer: Nida took the inspiration but executed it through a twist of contemporary. A kimono top with a knotted side adds a bit of zing.
Natalia by Natalia Naveed: This designer recently debut with an entire collection inspired by the far east. From prints to cuts, the line boasted highly of the Orients.
Outfitters: Even a high street brand like Outfitters couldn't stop themselves from bringing a little zen in their recent collection with this Fringed Kimono inspired Jacket/pullover.
Lahori Ink: This new brand recreated the Kimono with a pinch of quirk, a dash of juxtaposed prints through layering and whole lotta color. Totally fun and delightful.
