From Fat to Fabulous - The Weight Loss Dairies

I love myself and my body as it is but because of that love I want to take better care of it. I had never been slim or a size zero (Thanks to my Punjabi Genes) but was still fit and super curvy. Unfortunately after some tough situations and lots of falling sick in the past couple a years I have gained ample amount of weight which I am not comfortable with.

I don't over eat but require workout to loose weight as well as balance my calorie intake. Workout is something I really needed to force myself to take out time for due to my super busy routine (and also because of a certain amount of laziness!). Currently I weigh 85kgs (shame!) and I am aiming for 60kgs (Fame!)

I will be following a routine I had followed in the past and that suited me. I will be sharing the routine, diet plan, recipes and tips on a weekly post with progress to help other if they want it.

Kick Starting Points:
  • Keep a weekly update chart. When you see the change written down in front of you it will motivate you further. Great Ego Boost!
  • NO Bad Carbs, NO Bad Sugar, NO Soft Drinks. Good Carbs in brown rice, bran bread in balanced consistency is good and try to switch to brown sugar if cant live without sugar (but in reduced quantity)
  • ALWAYS take vitamins and Calcium supplement they are not only good for you but aids in weight loss
  • Brisk walk for at least 25 to 30 minutes daily and keep 15 minutes after that for basic toning exercises and crunches. Try 5 minutes of Burpees. They kill but they really work wonders:

  • The best time to eat fruits is first thing in the morning after a glass of water. Eating fruits right after a meal is not a great idea, as it may not be digested properly. The nutrients may not be absorbed properly either
  • Measure your weight not just with a weighing machine but also with a measuring tape to get the full details of the weight loss. Sometimes you may loose inches and gain muscle so weighing machine may not show that
  • Drink lots and lots of water
  • Drink green tea and black coffee (artificial eetner or just a little brown sugar is fine)
  • Control binging on food by eating Dry Roasted Kala Chana (Black Chickpeas) as snacks. Keep a jar full by your bedside or your work table at all time. Believe me its a life saver
  • Chew Sugar free gum to kill cravings and to reduce binging
  • Count your Calories. An average adult female requires 2000 calories. I lost more weight when I made sure I didnt exceed total intake of 1000 to 1200 calories. You can easily download an app for calorie counting on your phone or check HERE. I will be sharing a General Calories Chart soon as well
I will post more pointers, recipes and exercises along the journey of Fat to Fabulous. I hope to achieve all that I am aiming for. You are more than welcome to keep track with me by posting your progress in the comments every week on my "Weight Loss Blog" Post update every Sunday :) That will be a good way of watching over each other <3 You can also inbox and ask me question on my FB page.

  1. Incorporate carbs/fat in your diet because your body needs that to build hormones that will eventually help get rid of the fat. So you have to eat healthy fats, in order to get rid of the bad fat. a fat free diet is a major NO.

As for your snack cravings, you can also eat nuts like almonds, pine nuts, cashew, etc. They have nutritious value and if you're looking for a good fat supplement, will provide that too.

Good luck. It's good that you love your body enough to take care of it, and are working towards having a better life. As a med student, I know how tough it is to be a Paki and eat healthy, so I applaud you for trying to live healthier.

    Good Luck!
